I just really loved this season and I'd highly recommend it. It was well thought out, and I didn't catch any continuity errors (though I wasn't actively pursuing them).
It put in a greater effort on explaining how the magic works compared to the first season. What I will say is simple: If you enjoyed the first season, you'll definitely want to watch this one as well. It is just as action packed as the first season with interesting mini archs within it. This season falls in the period just before everyone either graduates or goes up a level at school. This will not be a very in-depth review as I don't wish to spoil anything, and leaving long reviews just isn't my thing.
